Electric Works, Sheffield

Electric Works was the first building on Digital Campus and provides a welcoming, professional environment for high-growth innovative businesses, entrepreneurs and agile start-ups working in the creative and digital industries.

In 2007, Creative Space Management was appointed by Sheffield City Council, following a competitive dialogue process, to manage a 12-year contract to operate the first building at Sheffield Digital Campus.

The first office building in the world to feature a helter skelter, Electric Works opened in March 2009, providing 5,000 sq. m. of office spaces let on a range of flexible licences and traditional leases. The building also includes a club lounge and conferencing facilities for up to 200 people.

Creative Space Management were responsible for detailed market testing, design specification, fit-out contract specification, full business planning and the operation and facilities management of the building. The Creative Space Management team won the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) award for Innovation (2009) and the British Council of Offices award for Innovation (2011) in respect of Electric Works.
