Crack team delivering Newcastle’s largest new commercial building

Creative Space Management welcome newly appointed Building Manager, Marc Burton to The Lumen team.  Soon to be completed, The Lumen, with its contemporary design and cutting-edge amenities, boasts 106,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and 5,000 sq ft of incubator and accelerator space. In his role, Marc Burton will oversee the facilities management of this flagship workspace, located in the heart of the £350m Newcastle Helix development.

With external works nearing completion, the internal fit-out of The Lumen is progressing at pace and is due to be completed in early March 2020. It will join several workspaces of national significance already occupied on the Helix site; including neighbours, The Core, which is also managed by Creative Space Management.

Following a competitive process, specialist urban regeneration and property management company, Creative Space Management, were appointed by Newcastle City Council and Legal & General in 2019.  As one part of a crack team, Creative Space Management are working alongside the biggest and the brightest in the UK’s commercial property market to deliver one of the largest Grade A office buildings in the North East.

There will be several exciting announcements made in the coming weeks as The Lumen prepares to welcome major international brands and pioneering start-ups through its doors this Easter.

New team member Marc Burton has had a successful career in procurement, estates management and customer services and is an active member of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM).  Of his new appointment leading The Lumen team, Mr Burton said:  “The Lumen is a truly outstanding building and the exceptional skills of the design and build team are entirely evident when you walk around it.  It is being fitted out with the very latest low-emission energy systems and a whole host of advanced service technologies that will maximise the customer experience, promote wellbeing and optimise productivity.”

This week Creative Space Management are recruiting for a Senior Customer Service Administrator and a Repairs and Maintenance Coordinator to join Mr Burton at The Lumen.

The Lumen is the latest addition to Newcastle Helix, a landmark 24-acre hybrid city quarter in the centre of Newcastle, built for international tech and science businesses, the local community and residents. Newcastle Helix is a partnership development between Newcastle University, Newcastle City Council and Legal & General, benefiting from the European Regional Development Fund. To learn more about potential letting opportunities at The Lumen please visit this website here.
